Terms of service

Last updated 9 August 2026

These are the terms for using next[you]labs. They're written to be read, not to be survived. By creating an account you agree to them.

Who you're dealing with

next[you]labs is operated by Jignesh Parbhu, a sole trader in New South Wales, Australia. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction.

Your account

You need to be 18 or over. One account per person, your login is yours to keep to yourself, and you're responsible for what happens under it. Tell us if you think someone else has got into it.

Give us accurate details. You can close your account whenever you like, from Settings. It's immediate, and there's no retention period.

What the lab is, and what it isn't

The lab is a tool for structuring your own thinking and your own goals. The content, prompts and articles in it are general information and education. They are not professional advice. Not financial, not legal, not medical, not tax.

That matters most around money. The budget module is a calculator for figures you enter; it doesn't know your circumstances and it isn't assessing them. Nothing in the lab is a recommendation to buy, hold or sell any financial product, open any account, or make any investment. Where we cover investing, we're explaining how the tools and the vocabulary work so you can ask better questions, not telling you what to do with your money. For advice about your actual situation, speak to someone licensed to give it.

The lab is also not a health service, a counselling service, or crisis support, and we don't monitor what you write. If you're struggling and you're in Australia, Lifeline is available 24 hours on 13 11 14, and emergency services are on 000.

What you decide to do off the back of the lab's direction is your call and your responsibility.

Plans and payment

The lab is a paid membership. Every account starts with a free trial of 10 days. You add a card when you sign up, but nothing is charged until the trial ends, and if you cancel before then you won't be charged. After that it runs as a monthly subscription. The Mentor and Mentor+ plans add one-on-one mentoring sessions each month. Where a feature is still being built we label it as such on the pricing page, so check there for what's live today versus what's coming.

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. You can change your plan or cancel at any time from Settings, then billing.

Mentoring

Mentoring sessions are one-to-one conversations with a human. You request them from inside the lab; scheduling and payment are arranged with us directly. Sessions included with a Mentor or Mentor+ plan reset each calendar month and don't roll over. Sessions you purchase individually are added to your account once payment is settled, and they don't expire.

Mentoring covers habits, decision-making, planning and accountability. It is not financial, legal or medical advice, and a mentor will not recommend specific financial products, shares or investments, including when a session is working from your own budget data.

If you need to move or cancel a session, give us reasonable notice and we'll rebook it. Miss one without notice and the credit may be used up. If we cancel, you keep the credit.

Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Where those guarantees apply, they apply regardless of anything written here, including a right to a refund or a remedy where a service isn't delivered with due care and skill.

Your content

What you write stays yours. We don't claim ownership of it and we don't use it for anything other than running the service for you. How we handle it is set out in the privacy policy.

The platform itself stays ours: the software, the design, the written content and the brand.

Using it properly

Don't break the law with it, don't try to get at other people's data, don't attack or overload the platform, don't scrape it, and don't resell access. Don't upload anything you don't have the right to.

We can suspend or close an account that's doing those things. Where it's reasonable we'll tell you why first.

This is an early-stage product

We'll add, change and remove features as it develops, and things will move quickly. We aim to keep the platform available and working, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make based on what you read or record here. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Changes to these terms

When these change we'll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects you, we'll tell you rather than leave you to spot it. Carrying on using the lab after that means you accept the new version.
